Jerry attended Durant Public Schools in Oklahoma and then transferred to Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, Texas. He attended Odessa Jr. College and Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He also attended OU and OSU and is certified in Business Management.
He was an agent for the Oklahoma Farm Bureau and Farm Bureau of Financial Services from 1993 to 2005. As a NASD Securities licensed Agent, he sold Securities, Life, Health, Property and Casualty Insurance. Jerry has continued in his professional development by attending financial and insurance seminars and has earned the Insurance Industry LUTCF Designation.
Jerry was the Regional Manager for the Love’s Country Stores from 1987 to 1993 and owned Texoma Automotive Supply and Machine shop along with a Convenience Store from 1977 to 1987.
He is a Tribal member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Jerry has been employed with the Choctaw Nation since August 22, 2005, and serves as a director for the Chief and Assistant Chief.
Jerry has served as an elected Durant Public School Board Member from 1984 to 1988 and from 1994 to 1998.
He was elected and has served on the Durant City Council since 1998 and continues to serve in that capacity. Jerry was elected by his peers as the Durant City Mayor in 2001 and since that time has been re-elected by his peers every two-year term to serve as mayor. Other positions he currently serves are Durant Industrial Authority (Chair), Durant Community Facilities Authority (Chair), State of Oklahoma Centennial Commission (Board member), Durant Chamber of Commerce (Board of Directors and member), Oklahoma Conference of Mayors / OCOM (Board member), Big Five Community Services (Board of Directors member), First Baptist Church of Durant (member), and he is a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran.
Jerry is married to a wonderful woman named Linda and has 3 daughters and 1 son. They have 11 grand children.
