Water Treatment Plant
The Durant's Water Treatment plant has proudly served the citizens of the City for nearly 100 years. On average, our highly trained plant employees produce 3.8 million gallons per day and during peak demand, up to 7.5 million gallons per day.
Our primary source for drinking water is the Blue River. In simplicity, the treatment for drinking water Production, involves a process of removing the contaminant, by coagulation, flocculation, and sedimentation,is followed by filtration. Which removes 99.9% of all bacteria, viruses, and suspended solids. The last step to treatment is disinfection by chlorine gas which kills all remaining particles.
We do this work 24/7 -- 365 days a year to ensure that the City of Durant and the surrounding community always have a safe and abundant supply of drinking water.
